On February 20th, 2012, Amanda would have been 83 years old. Though she is no longer with us, she lives on in the hearts of her family, friends, and admirers. Like the deep roots of the Baobab tree of her beloved Kenya, her amazing spirit has taken root in all of us.

Amanda had a special quality that made strangers feel like friends and her love for life was as infectious as her bright smile and bawdy laugh. With a decades-long acting career and an unforgettable character unrivaled in the history of American television, Amanda reached out and touched our lives in countless ways. She left behind a legacy of animal rights activism, dedicating much of her life to the health and well-being of both wild and domestic animals.
